The MagnaDrive ASD is a variable speed drive that has all the benefits of this revolutionary "disconnected technology." It transmits torque from the motor to the load across an air gap. There is no physical connection between the motor shaft and the load shaft. An actuator is used to vary the air gap which allows for the appropriate amount of slip. Generally, a fully coupled ASD experiences 1-4% slip.

Actuators can be powered by a 4-20 signal, pneumatically, or hydraulically
Actuators have manual override
20HP-500HP ASDs are air-cooled
500HP-4000HP ASDs are water-cooled

Not affected by dirty power because the ASD itself is completely mechanical, as long as the motor is turning the ASD works
